We were waiting for it for a long time: here is the official text about the main features defining the identity of our vocation. It is a Letter written by the Prefect of the Congregation for the Institutes of consecrated life, for to the bishops of the whole Church. It is the result of a long co-working between the Congregation, the Cmis and some national Conferences of SI. We also discussed a lot about it during our last General assembly, held in Rome last August.

This document is published in the form of a booklet, that also holds a document drawn up by the Congregation in 1983 about the identity and the mission of Secular Institutes. This booklet is published and available by the Congregation itself; consolidated orders are preferable: for your members and the bishops they know, or through your national Conference of Secular Institutes.

It will help us a lot to know better our own vocation and make it better known. It should be widely distributed.
